Home Renovation & AdditionCreating a custom addition
Our Kensington client came to us with the goal of converting their dual residence circa 1890s dwelling into a single spacious and comfortable family home.
Our key challenge in the design of Kensington was to retain the integrity of the original build in our new construction with a seamless flow. During construction, we had to redesign the kitchen layout, while also working with limited access. The only front access was through the front door, while from the rear, a common strata driveway and setting across from a school meant very limited parking was available throughout the build.
What a result! Over a nine month build time, Callery Building transformed the circa 1890 home into a single family residence boasting an additional 90m2 of living space, a new double garage on the rear of the dwelling, and an abundance of natural light.Key features include the solid masonry construction of the grand double brick addition, new solid Spotted Gumtimber flooring flows throughout, cavernous 3.7m high ceilings, the Velux roof window to the kitchen with a solar blockout blind, and energy-saving double glazed windows.
